models celebrate with Segura Viudas cava
The Mercedes Benz Barcelona Fashion Week starts in a few hours and you dear readers will be fully informed here by a special guest that I will announce very soon. In the meantime, I wanted to tell you about the infamous, legendary, and no longer active, "Pasarela Gaudi"... ah, the Golden Days...
Pasarela Gaudi will always be "the" Fashion Week of Fashion Weeks for me. Maybe because I was just a teenager when I used to run backstage, maybe because we would drink mini bottles of cava between shows, maybe because I always liked old stuff, for whatever reason, Gaudi is the IT Fashion Week for me.
Fun, friends, models smoking backstage, drinking backstage, and
after-show parties that would start "during-show" backstage.
I remember one time during Barcelona Fashion Week when I even reported for the National TV channel (TVE1) right from the catwalk - I wonder how I could get those images? It was around the year 2000!
But apart from all the stuff that would give Kelly Cutrone a
heart attack, Gaudi was also a symbol of Style, Class and new
generations of Spanish designs.
Gaudi was also a
smaller Fashion Week compared to its sisters in New York and London, so the
days of shows would create a familiar atmosphere where everybody either knew
each other or would end up meeting each other.
Barcelona
Fashion Week is no longer "Pasarela Gaudi" and it is called "080" now. It takes place at Palau de Pedralbes now, and it is a different format. It starts today Tuesday July 10th. Stay tuned.
